Jim co-founded 42 Entertainment to produce immersive entertainment experiences for top brands. While building the company, he also helped create the nascent field of Alternate Reality Games (ARGs). ARGs present an interactive, networked narrative that uses the real world as a platform and employs transmedia storytelling to deliver stories that can be influenced by a participant’s actions.
Under Jim’s leadership, 42 Entertainment produced several fully-integrated campaigns that engaged millions of fans worldwide. Included here were designing, developing and delivering award-winning experiential solutions for properties including: Halo, Microsoft Vista, Nine Inch Nails, The Dark Knight and many others.
The “I Love Bees” campaign was particularly notable. It promoted the launch of Halo 2, the second installment of this top-grossing shooter game. Commissioned by Microsoft and supported by Bungie, “I Love Bees” touched 3M+ visitors globally over three months, with a significant number participating actively. The campaign won many awards for innovation and helped spawn other ARGs for video game releases.
